Job Description

The Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education (OJMCHE) is looking for a creative education professional who embraces the mission and values of the organization. This position offers the opportunity to chart a dynamic path forward for the museum’s educational programming. This individual is a seasoned manager and leader, enthusiastic collaborator, and excellent listener, with a strong background in Holocaust education and American Jewish history.

Key Responsibilities

• Shape the museum's educational vision by setting goals, benchmarks, and impact metrics that bring our strategic plan to life for diverse audiences

• Lead a passionate Education Team while managing the department's budget

• Craft compelling interpretive content and learning outcomes for school groups, teachers, and public programs

• Work with local Holocaust survivors and manage the museum’s Speakers’ Bureau

• Build and mentor our Docents into confident, knowledgeable storytellers that reflect the museum’s mission and message

• Partner with scholars, staff, and consultants to shape the content and narrative of exhibitions and programming

• Lead workshops, tours, and represent the museum at conferences and events across Oregon and beyond

• Cultivate lasting relationships with regional, national, and international partners

• Stay engaged professionally through attending meetings, events, and programs throughout the state

Desired Qualifications

• At least 5 years in progressively responsible education or museum education roles, including management experience and a track record building and managing programs

• MA in Holocaust/Genocide Studies, American Jewish History, or related field

• Ability to connect with every audience, from schoolchildren to survivors, with warmth and cultural sensitivity

• Comfort with Microsoft Office, Adobe, Google, and Zoom

• Reliable transportation and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays

• Confidence engaging donors, officials, and community leaders

Additional desired skills

• Bilingual in Spanish

• Knowledge of Oregon regional history

• Classroom experience or knowledge of the Oregon public school system

Compensation & Benefits

• $72,000 annually or DOE

• Benefits: Health benefits, 401(k), generous paid time off and paid holidays
