Description
There are times when a public-facing organization may decide to host programming that will rock the boat, but when guided by principles of DEAI, there's no telling what may lay ahead. This presentation will share the rocky shoreline navigated by the Salem Art Association when they decided to "double down" to stand by a queer artist following an incident of hate speech, and how that relationship blossomed into a plethora of well-received community programming. Attendees will have the chance to discuss and reflect on potential challenging programming, and learn how to cultivate strength and partnerships within their communities.
