Description
A museum's physical building plays a critical role in protecting and displaying your collection. As collections grow and change, the physical storage needs, interior environmental conditions, emergency preparedness, and visitor or staff growth may require accommodations (and compromises). This session focuses on critical aspects of building spaces, uses, and maintenance practices that affect collections, from the perspective of an architectural conservator, and introduces the IMLS Collections Assessment for Preservation program. Come away with strategies and ideas to adapt to the evolving needs and uses of your building.
