Description
This workshop focuses on the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) enacted in 1990. The law’s precise impact on museums will be examined. Panel members with specialized NAGPRA knowledge will share specific information—compliance requirements, collection evaluation, outreach to Native tribes—and share their tribe's and museum's experience with the repatriation process. Participants will come away with a better understanding of NAGPRA and how you can put these tools to use in your organization.
